Medical Tourism in Costa Rica

In recent years, the number of people travel abroad for medical care outside of the United States has skyrocketed. According to Josef Wooodman's Patients Beyond Borders:
As the cost of medical care in the US continues to skyrocket and wait times for many procedures grow longer, many Americans are taking advantage of foreign hospitals & physicians to provide much of their medical care. In fact, the medical tourism market is expected to grow to $40 billion by 2010, and should carry on to boost as the Baby Boom generation ages. In some cases, the cost of care at accredited overseas hospitals offering first-class care is as little as one-tenth the cost of similar procedure in the United States. More than 150,000 Americans traveled outside the United States for health care in 2006, and some project the number to double in 2007; Patients are primarily traveling to India, Thailand, Costa Rica and Singapore. Patients can undertake just about any medical procedure they want, including oral dental work, heart surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, fertility treatments, LASIK eye surgery and cancer procedures. World Congress will bring together under one roof key employers, health plans, hospital systems and international medical tourism providers to share the latest insights on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for medical tourism.
Bangkok’s Bumrungrad caters to international patients. According to the hospital's Web site, Bumrungrad was the first Asian hospital accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the international arm of the organization that reviews and accredits American hospitals. More than 200 of the doctors on staff are U.S. board certified.
In India at the Heart Institute and Research Center performs more then 15,000 heart operations every year, and the death rate is lower than the rates seen at many hospitals in the United States, according to the authors of Hospitality 2010: The Future of Hospitality & Travel.
Not all overseas clinics will have the same reputation as these two examples, however. Experts advise anyone considering traveling abroad for medical care should carefully think about where they go and whom they get their information from. Complications are seen at every hospital and clinic no matter which country it is based in, so patients should always be sure they are seeing a surgeon they can trust.
There are dozens of organizations that will book your next trip out of the country for medical care. As in Costa Rica; Betterlooks is providing their clients all information needed for them to feel as comfortable as possible when they do make the decision for any type of these surgeries or treatments. For a fraction of what it would cost a person with no health insurance for a complicated procedure, like coronary bypass, a person could travel to somewhere like Costa Rica and stay in a resort for their recovery. Just as many companies recommend, Better Looks in Costa Rica, always recommend their clients to do their own research on the doctor or surgeon, and ask the online assistants as many questions as possible.

Cheap Cosmetic Surgery You can pay a lot of money to a cosmetic surgeon in the States or you could go to medical tourism destinations like India, Argentina, or Thailand and received the same treatment for a fraction of the cost.
